   In general, I really like the idea.  But I'm concerned about the systest failures.  Do you have more information on why they are failing?  If they are failing because they are coded to Atmosphere-specific behaviors, then I'm less concerned (but then we should fix the tests).  I'm more concerned if this change is removing/altering the SSE behavior.
