Left.jsp changes, The homepage doesn't change, why?

Hi, friends

I am trying to change the appearance of the homepage.  After I change 
left.jsp in jetspeed/web-inf/template/navigation/html/en/, the appearance of 
my homepage is still remaining the same.  Why is it so?
