Cassandra is now using [metrics|https://github.com/codahale/metrics] and is depending on metrics-core 2.0.3. 
It would be great to make the jump to the latest version of the library which is 3.x - [latest is 3.0.1|http://search.maven.org/#search|gav|1|g%3A%22com.codahale.metrics%22%20AND%20a%3A%22metrics-core%22].
