Yep! I've been asked by the maven team to make this ticket in response to my own where I used it (and which now I'm trying to scope down to only adding the .vscode directory to .gitignore): https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MNG-7377

> The editor VSCode makes `.vscode` directories at the top of a project's repository automatically.
> It'd be nice for Rat to exclude it and any other automatically generated files vscode creates the same it does with Eclipse, and maven.
> (I've been asked to make this ticket in response to feedback in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MNG-7377 that the maven project would like to see this upstream.)
