Finally I've contributed something to Open Source...

BTW, thanks for your suggestion to check out Turbine.  
I don't know if you suggested it particularly for this 
purpose, but I think my brain's going into meltdown 
trying to get my head around it. But I'm persevering, 
out of sheer Scots bloodymindedness if nothing else!
