AvantGo (avantgo.com) is looking for a Senior Web Applications
Engineer. We use Mason and some custom Apache handlers in mod_perl. 
There is also some C knowledge required, as well as MySQL (really any
semi-standard SQL) and of course Apache.  The posting from the website

Senior Web Applications Engineer

AvantGo is the world's largest mobile device sync portal, delivering
rich, personalized content and applications to end-users. Today,
hundreds of major brands, including American Airlines, CNET, General

highly desirable demographic of millions of subscribers. To learn more

We are currently looking for a Senior Web Applications Engineer to
join iAnywhere Solutions' AvantGo engineering team. Web applications
engineers at AvantGo are responsible for maintaining and adding to the
applications that drive the AvantGo service, built using C, Perl,
Mason, PHP, Apache and MySQL, and running on FreeBSD and Linux.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    * Provides support for the design, development, testing, technical
documentation and roll-out of new Web-based applications for the
AvantGo service that directly interface end users to AvantGo content
and services.
    * In some cases, these applications will be developed using
third-party components; responsibilities will then include evaluation,
installation, configuration and troubleshooting of these components.
    * Participates in requirements analysis, design reviews, code
reviews and other team-development processes.
    * Keeps abreast of new and emerging Web site technologies.
    * Develops tools and scripts for on-going maintenance of Web components.
    * Develops processes that simplify and automate maintenance activities. 

Required Experience / Skills:

    * Education in Computer Science or related field of knowledge
    * At least five years related industry experience
    * Work on a similarly architected, high-volume, public Internet
site (portal, application service provider, retail e-commerce)
    * Practical database-driven dynamic web content development using Perl
    * Familiarity with high-level server-side scripting
    * Expertise with SQL and integrating web pages with back-end databases
    * Demonstrated success writing applications that scale across a
cluster of web servers
    * Proficiency in a structured engineering build cycle (scoping,
development, staging, Q/A and release) driven by a source code
revision system
    * Excellent code troubleshooting and testing skills
    * Experience using Unix and Apache, along with shell scripting
    * Familiarity with the Internet and supporting protocols (HTTP, CGI, TCP/IP)
    * Ability to learn new technologies quickly
    * Excellent code and documentation writing skills
    * Excellent technical research and analysis skills
    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    * Working well within a team and following directions 

Highly Desired Experience / Skills:

    * Practical server development using C/C++ with sockets and threads
    * Experience using MySQL databases and DBI
    * Experience with Apache module writing
    * Experience using Mason or PHP
    * Experience writing DHTML (Javascript and CSS)
    * Experience with HTML parsing
    * Experience using CVS
    * Familiarity with mobile devices (PDAs, Smartphones, etc.)
