Thanks, I got it to build. I just edited the UI's properties file to
use Linux SWT.
Apologies if this doesn't belong here in the dev list - should this
topic go to the user list?
I created a new Eclipse 3.1 Linux/GTK installation, Webtools I20050909
and its dependencies listed at:
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/I-I20050909-200509090017/
. Then I unzipped the generated Geronimo server adapter.
When I start Eclipse and then use New/Server, only various Tomcat
folders are listed in the "Apache". How can I tell WTP about the
Geronimo code? In the WTP 0.7 "all in one" bundle, Geronimo was
present in "Apache" along with some other appservers in the "Generic"
group.

I'd like to get my hands dirty and learn the internals of Geronimo and
WTP.I'll read through the code and see if it's within my capabilities
to hack on. :)

Great! Let us know if theres any more issues, either with the build
process or with the code itself. Also the current support is pretty
basic, so if there's additional tooling features you would like to see,
please bring these ideas up on the dev list or open up a jira on the
GERONIMODEVLTOOLS project.
Thanks.
Sachin.

I applied the patch and rebuilt. Excellent! I see that EAR
functionality is now present - that's what I was looking for.

The problem was that the plugin.xml as well as the serverdef file was
not included in the artifact. I've fixed this and attach a patch. I've
verified that Apache Geronimo does show up as a list of servers in the
new server wizard with the generated binary distribution zip.
Geir, whenever you get a chance, please apply devtools #10.
Thanks.

No .log file yet on this fresh install. Thanks.

Also is there anything in the eclipse .log file
(workspace/.metadata/.log) that refers to the geronimo plugins?

I have a jira open on this to use a conditional dependency to pick up
the correct platform libs. I'll try to get to this by end of the weekend.

The dev list is fine.

If Geronimo is not listed under Apache, there must be a packaging
problem. I did notice that the plugin and feature ID's are 1.0.0
whereas the artifact and jarred plugin id's are 1.0, and I'm wondering
if eclipse can't locate the plugin because of this. Let me make some
modifications to match the ids, and I'll try it out myself.
