[jira] [Commented] (IMPALA-9899) Adding Parquet-tools to toolchain
is desirable
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-9899?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17146653#comment-17146653 ]
Sahil Takiar commented on IMPALA-9899:
--------------------------------------
I'm not sure it necessarily needs to be added to the toolchain, but I can see a use case where {{./bin/boostrap-development.sh}} downloads it locally and adds it the default PATH. Or perhaps we have a simple shell script wrapper around the jar which downloads it to ~/.m2/ if it doesn't already exist locally.

> Currently, the parquet-tools utility is not available from within the toolchain. As result, one has to download the jar file (parquet-tools-<version>.jar) first.
> With the parquet-tools utility, one can easily examine a parquet file in HDFS or on local disks.
