Some committers not listed on DB "Who we are" page.

Could all the Derby committers please ensure their name is on the DB
project page.

http://db.apache.org/whoweare.html

Thanks,
Dan.

The whoweare web page also doesn't list our newly minted PMC members.

Thanks, Andrew. I'm still having trouble getting ssh to challenge me for
a password. I've created authorized_keys on both the local and remote
machines and brought up an ssh agent on my local machine. But when I ssh
to people.apache.org, I'm challenged for a password rather than a keyed
passphrase. Hm. Don't know what I'm garbling.

The instructions on this page: http://www.cs.utk.edu/~england/ssh.html
are specific to granting access to the hydra22 machine.

Replace hydra22.cs.utk.edu with people.apache.org in those
instructions and you should be good to go.

Main thing to take away from those instructions is to generate a key
with ssh-keygen, and then copy the public part of that key into your
~/.ssh/authorized-keys file on minotaur.

I am trying to add myself to the list of PMC members, using Jean's
excellent instructions. At this point, I have checked in my edits to the
list. They should be sitting in the apache db repository. So I'm on to
deploying the changes. This involves a remote ssh key and lands me on
the following hurdle: I need to log onto

hydra22.cs.utk.edu

I don't seem to be able to ssh to this machine using my apache username
and password. Is there some other account I should be using? If not,
whom should I petition?

That sounds correct. With that configuration I managed to run
  maven -Dmaven.username=kahatlen site:deploy
successfully. At least, it said BUILD SUCCESSFUL in the end, but there
were a lot of "operation not permitted" messages:

% maven -Dmaven.username=kahatlen site:deploy

  (...)

[exec] chmod: ./derby/javadoc/publishedapi/jdbc4/overview-tree.html: Operation not permitted
[exec] chmod: ./derby/javadoc/publishedapi/jdbc4/package-list: Operation not permitted

[exec] chmod: ./derby/javadoc/publishedapi/jdbc4/stylesheet.css: Operation not permitted
[exec] chmod: ./.htaccess: Operation not permitted
    [delete] Deleting: /usr/home/kah/derby/db-site/target/db-site-1.0-site.tar.gz
BUILD SUCCESSFUL

We'll just have to wait a couple of hours and see if the DB site is
still there. If it suddenly disappears or is broken, you know I'm to
blame...

Hi Jean, thanks for the pointers. This looks pretty straightforward.

I'll try to get myself added to the site.

I'm having a bit of trouble following your notes where you say:

     (2) I set up the ssh key and started the agent per
     http://www.cs.utk.edu/~england/ssh.html .

In the context of those instructions, is it correct that:

    - my "local machine" is the machine where I normally do my
svn checkout and svn commit commands, and
    - "the CS machine" is people.apache.org?
    - my "CS homearea" is my home directory on people.apache.org?

thanks,

bryan

after Derby graduated from the incubator I posted some instructions to
derby-dev that might help:

http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/db-derby-dev/200509.mbox/%3c431F7998.7080009@bristowhill.com%3e

in that post I mentioned that I had trouble with the deploy, but
general@db helped me work that out and I just updated the instructions
at http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/db/site/README.txt shortly after
Bryan posted to general@db.

So, committers add themselves to
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/db/site/projects/derby/project.xml and
pmc members add themselves to
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/db/site/project.xml

If you discover you don't have svn permissions to commit to the db site
repo send email to private@db.apache.org requesting that you be granted
karma.

I hope this helps,

 -jean

I asked about this over on general@db.apache.org, and
Henning Schmiedehausen pointed me at

   http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/db/site/README.txt

Unfortunately, I haven't made much progress on this yet, because
I don't have much experience with maven.

I am intending to do it; just haven't done so yet.

thanks,

bryan
