FYI, AOL Mail Operations people suggests checking for the IP addresses
of AOL Mail servers, as listed on
http://postmaster.info.aol.com/info/servers.html

They guarantee that these IP addresses will not change for a very long time.

Rationale is that anyone can place a reverse DNS on any IP address
that points at anything.mx.aol.com, even outside AOL.
