Ok, after some time with the Jamie, I got it working. The following notes
are here for windows users:
1) After you install Prince 7.1, point your PATH environment variable to
<where you installed Prince>/Prince/Engine/bin. For some reason, this is
different on linux and Ubuntu (<installation location>/Prince/bin).
2) use the following to compile karaf: mvn clean install -Pmanual
3) If you are using mvn 3.0.2 (mvn 2.2.1 causes memory issues on my NT box),
dont' worry about the Itest failure. If the failure is keeping you from
building, use the following to compile karaf: mvn clean install -Pmanual -fn
4) Even though the website says to use JDK 1.5, you must use JDK 1.6.x. This
is because of a Scalate dependency.
5) Set the environment variable MAVEN_OPTS to -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m
6) If you notice that the Karaf :: Assembler is failing along with the
itests, but everything else is compiling fine, go into
apache-karaf-2.0.0/assemblies and type mvn clean install. Then everything
you want will be installed into your local maven repository and in
apache-karaf-2.0.0/assemblies/apache-karaf/target.

HOpe this helps some of you other Windows users.

Re: [VOTE] Release Karaf version 2.2.0 (2nd try)

This is what I got when I ran mvn -version:

C:\Documents and Settings\user>mvn -version
Apache Maven 3.0.2 (r1056850; 2011-01-08 19:58:10-0500)
Java version: 1.5.0_22, vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
Java home: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_22\jre
Default locale: en_US, platform encoding: Cp1252
OS name: "windows xp", version: "5.1", arch: "x86", family: "windows"

The version I'm using to compile is 1.5.0_22 not 1.6.0_22.

The issue is in scalate. They don't support Java 5, we do. So our
build is on Java 6 and we back test with Java 5 for the main Karaf
project.

I think that you use Java 5.

The String.isEmpty() method has been introduced in Java 1.6.

Even if we decided that Karaf 2.2.x still support Java 5, the problem
that you got is only on the manual, not on the Karaf classes itself.

So, for me, this issue is not a release blocker.

I still maintain my +1.

I checked PDF manual, README and RELEASE-NOTES file. Using JConsole I'm
able to see the MBeans. I deployed some bundles (classic and blueprint)
without problem.

It looks good for me :)
