[jira] Created: (AXIS2-4757) JAX-WS: UnmarshalException occurs when
an @ResponseWrapper does not have an @XmlRootElement
JAX-WS: UnmarshalException occurs when an @ResponseWrapper does not have an @XmlRootElement
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: AXIS2-4757
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AXIS2-4757
Project: Axis2
Issue Type: Bug
Components: jaxws
Reporter: Rich Scheuerle
Assignee: Rich Scheuerle
Background:
A JAX-WS method document/literal wrapped method is annotated with @ResponseWrapper and @RequestWrapper annotations. These annotations define (or default) to a class that represents the JAXB wrapper class. In all common cases, the JAXB class represents a root element. However in some cases the JAXB class may represent a complexType.
Problem:
When the @RequestWrapper or @ResponseWrapper class does not have an @XmlRootElement annotation, an UnmarshalException may occur.
Proposed Solution:
I am working on a change to the JAX-WS runtime to detect this scenario and use the "by type" JAXB unmarshaling to unmarshal the xml.
A testcase will be changed to validate the code.
