Accessing project properties in apt files.

Is it possible to access project properties (ie. project.version) in an
apt file. I found this:

Though the reply isn't really usefull. What is the syntax if this is
possible?

The scenario I want it for is a download page for the site, so that when
I release a new version, The download link will automatically point to
the correct version.
