re-ranking lucene results

hello there 
i want to re-rank the lucene result set.in other words i want to re -order the documents contained in Hits object.
can anyone tell me where to start.

How would you like to re-rank?  Simple sorting can be handled through  
the Sort capability, other re-ranking is going to depend on what you  
want to do.
