[jira] [Commented] (OFBIZ-13438) Add manufacturing-demo plugin: a loadable Manufacturing + MRP demo/reference dataset

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-13438?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=18094558#comment-18094558 ]

Divesh Dutta commented on OFBIZ-13438:
--------------------------------------

While testing the manufacturing-demo dataset, BOM creation is failing for the demo `admin` user.

Steps:
1. Load the manufacturing demo data
2. Open https://localhost:8443/manufacturing/control/EditProductBom
3. Select parent product : DCGAPSOSR12
+ component product : DCSPPUSA and submit

Observed:
The request fails in `createBOMAssoc` when it delegates to `createProductAssoc`.

Relevant server log:
- `You haven't the permission for the service createProductAssoc`
- `problem invoking the [createProductAssoc] service`
- request is running as `userLoginId=admin`

Service path:
- `createBOMAssoc` -> manufacturing `BomSimpleMethods.xml`
- calls product service `createProductAssoc`
- `createProductAssoc` is protected by `productGenericPermission`
- that permission path requires `CATALOG_CREATE` or `CATALOG_ADMIN`

From the current demo data, the manufacturing-demo `FULLADMIN` setup appears to grant manufacturing permissions, but BOM creation still fails because the delegated product-association service is checked against catalog permissions.

So the manufacturing demo dataset currently does not fully support BOM creation out of the box for its provided `admin` user.

We can add assign CATALOG_ADMIN permission to FULLADMIN group. Here is the data:

<SecurityGroupPermission groupId="FULLADMIN" permissionId="CATALOG_ADMIN" fromDate="2001-01-01 12:00:00.0"/>

this should solve the problem.

> Apache OFBiz includes a Manufacturing + MRP subsystem. The stock demo data ships some _generic_ manufacturing examples (a few machines, a work calendar, cost formulas in ManufacturingDemoData.xml), but there is no _coherent, self-contained_ manufacturing scenario a newcomer can load and follow against the published manufacturing how-to series. Standing up such a scenario today also means hand-creating products, BOMs, routings, machines and calendars before any how-to can be tried.
> This adds a new ofbiz-plugins component, {{manufacturing-demo}}, that loads a coherent, SELF-CONTAINED skateboard-factory configuration on stock entities only, via its own {{manufacturingDemo}} data reader. It brings its own company, a focused manufacturing-capable admin login, and all manufacturing data, so it loads on seed + seed-initial WITHOUT the stock 'demo' data set:
> {{./gradlew "ofbiz --load-data readers=seed,seed-initial,manufacturingDemo"}}
> Nothing is silently pulled from the stock demo data; the evaluator sees exactly this scenario.
> Contents (this issue - slice 1, standing configuration):
> * the {{Company}} organization (tagged MANUFACTURER) and a focused {{FULLADMIN}} {{admin}} login granted only this demo's permissions
> * a production plant {{MFG_PLANT}}
> * 9 products correctly typed (finished good / sub-assembly / raw materials)
> * a two-tier bill of materials
> * two machines with work calendars
> * routings and operations
> * supplier and supplier-product records
> * a {{manifest.yaml}} mapping the demo's entities and IDs
> The company/login bootstrap rows are copied (with attribution in code comments) from OFBiz's own AccountingDemoData and security demo files. No transactional data in this issue.
> The scenario and manufacturing data are based on the published Apache OFBiz manufacturing how-to series by Swapnil Shah.
> Planned follow-up issues will add inventory, sales forecasts + MRP execution, and production costing, enabling the full MRP -> production run -> actual cost walkthrough against this dataset.
