    Comment:
Here is my final patch. It covers updates to the plugin.jelly (to recognise maven.test.source), and properties.xml (the doco is copied from the maven.compile.source entry).

This patch supercedes all others

Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: MAVEN-170
Summary: Make test:compile use same "-source" setting as java:compile
       Type: Improvement

     Status: Assigned
   Priority: Minor

 Time Spent: Unknown
   Estimate: 1 hour

    Project: maven
  Component: None
   Versions:
             1.0-beta-8

   Assignee: Jason van Zyl
   Reporter: Ben Walding

    Created: Wed, 4 Dec 2002 9:05 AM
    Updated: Wed, 15 Jan 2003 7:41 AM
Environment: NA

Description:
As I use the assert keyword in my code and my tests, I have to have
the source set to 1.4

java:compile allows this
test:compile does not

Attached is a patch to change this behaviour so that the test:compile target uses the same source setting as java:compile
