apreq-2: cvs build problem

Hi,
I have checked-out the CVS version of 'today', run
./buildconf (tools are the correct version) and get
some errors (see below).
Afterwards, ./configure <options>; make returns
make: *** No rule to make target `/config.status', needed by
`Makefile'.  Stop.

any clue ?
