Missing files after update

Hi

I just updated openoffice to 4.1.1 but unfortunately I can't seem to find the information I had on the other version.
I had the better part of half a book written that represents about a year's work and it is gone.
I'm just wondering how this could happen and if I can still find that file again.
When I looked under recent documents it showed zero documents.  I had many documents in there including the book.
There was no indication about saving or backing up my openoffice files before the upgrade began.

The new version of OpenOffice has not yet opened any files, so it cannot show you any Recent Documents. They are still on your computer - all you need to is use /File /Open and navigate to the directory where you store them. As you open each one it will appear in Recent Documents.

Ray,

Look in the folder(s) that you saved your file(s) in, the file(s) will still be there. As you work with the file(s) your recent document list will be repopulated.

As a courtesy I've sent a copy of this message to your email address. Please reply to users@openoffice.apache.org so all users can assist you. Please include information about your operating system for more specific information.
