Latest Issue/Up Date 4.1.0

Good day
Thankyou for all thats invoved in both the visible side of Open Office &
the no doubt huge effort behind the scenes
& yes I do know there is a massive team involved.
Unfortunately my computer (especially programming & similar) ignorance
outways any capability.
Hence as I cannot understand a fraction of the mumbo jumbo jargon -
(given up on the forum) &
more of a burden than any help, so no involvement (do promote O/Office)
- but thanks for the invitation.

My Problem
Trying to print a page (the first with this update) - no action, then
flashes up what I eventually caught :

LXD APRPC.DLL Error 26 using default - (which I hope means something
to you - error numbers most frustrating!)

It also locked up & I broke out by selecting shut down - although caught
it before it did
Switched to Wordpad - retyped & printed without a problem - so the
finger points ......!
Tried again - same, although didn't lock up & got the above, suggests
memory overload, the first time (?)

Have a Lexmark 640 & have only recently got that going again (think the
driver got lost)
Also just installed a Canon Pixma MP 170 which I doubt should have had
any influence
Still on Win XP with an antique (like me) computer & max capacity ram (?)
Sorry if gone on too much but trying to pre-emp obvious questions - the
theory, more info better than insufficient
Thankyou in anticipation
Dave R.

If you are using a Lexmark (and sometimes Dell, rebranded Lexmark) printer a problem attaches to some of their drivers. This problem arises from improperly written drivers and shows up only on some programs (OpenOffice in particular). It was dealt with in this Microsoft note
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918730
While this refers to a particular program the fix seems to work in general.

If you cannot understand what you refer to as jargon on the Forum, you should return with a query. Using computers needs technical language; because the advice is given on a pro bono basis, we tend to be as succinct as possible to minimise the time we devote to that service; it is not our function to assist with general understanding of the use of computers. But if needs must, we will expand on our advice.
