Methods with Protected instead of Public scope
Summary: Methods with Protected instead of Public scope
Product: Struts
Version: 1.1 Beta 1
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: Other
Component: Controller
AssignedTo: struts-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: chuckcavaness@attbi.com
Shouldn't the methods such as execute() in the ExceptionHandler be public
instead of protected? If I extend the RequestProcessor and override the
processExceptions method, I get a compile error because my RequestProcessor is
in a different package (and it should be) than org.apache.struts.action.
Notice that the process() method in RequestProcessor is public so that if you
extend the ActionServlet in a different package, you can still call the process
method because it's public.
Chuck
