[jira] [Created] (YARN-3512) add more fine-grained metrics that measure write performance

Sangjin Lee created YARN-3512:
---------------------------------

Summary: add more fine-grained metrics that measure write performance
                 Key: YARN-3512
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-3512
             Project: Hadoop YARN
          Issue Type: Sub-task
          Components: timelineserver
            Reporter: Sangjin Lee
            Assignee: Sangjin Lee

We need more fine-grained metrics in the load testing tool that measure the write performance of the timeline service. Currently it only captures the number of writes and bytes per sec from the API point of view. But the actual storage implementation may turn them into many more/fewer writes to the storage itself. We need more fine-grained data about what's going on in terms of actual writes to storage.
