building jakarta-turbine-2: which version of webmacro.jar ?
Hi,
I'm trying to build turbine-2 from cvs but my build fails on a lot of webmacro related source files.
I couldn't find webmacro in the tdk-2.1 lib dir or in the lib dirs of the recent tdk snapshots, nor in the
central lib repo at http://jakarta.apache.org/turbine/jars/ so I downloaded webmacro 1.0 from webmacro.org and
built with that. This gives me lots of errors, which I pasted below.
So which version of webmacro does get turbine-2 compiled ?

Yeah, you probably don't want the WebMacro service anyway (it's gone
in Turbine 3). We recommend using Velocity if you need a templating
engine.

Yeah, in the build.xml for turbine-2, it is clear that there are lines designed
to dodge the varius optional files if the appropriate jar isn't there:
<target name="prepare-castor" depends="prepare" if="castor.present">
<copy todir="${build.src}/org" filtering="yes">
<fileset dir="${src.java.dir}/org">
<include name="**/services/castor/*.java"/>
</fileset>
</copy>
</target>
This doesn't seem to be done for webmacro..

I found it at http://germ.semiotek.com/wm/ and it works. Thanks

Nope. It only updates the jars on the dep list and webmacro is clearly
not a dependency anymore :)

webmacro-0.94.jar seems to work for me - isn't this available from
jakarta-turbine-2 cvs? If not then try www.webmacro.org

I used to do this, but it is more trouble than it is worth. I'm pretty
sure that the ant build file now retrieves all of the necessary jar
files and everything compiles cleanly.

Age, there is a README in the lib directory which tells you about the optional
services that must have their jars in place for a full build. I ended up
deleting the various source files that referred to them (also freemarker, castor
etc.) but that probably wasn't the most efficient way to do it.
