proposed patch: [^OAK-7016.patch]. the biggest issue I had was with {{CugConfiguration}}. it seems there's an overlap between it extending {{ConfigurationBase}} where the root/tree providers are and the need to redefine an OSGi reference pointing to the same types of objects. this resulted in a bit of an awkward bind/set situation. seems to work, but looks fragile to me.
