[jira] [Commented] (TS-3116) Add support for tracking the use of
the ioBuffers
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TS-3116?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14256597#comment-14256597 ]
Sudheer Vinukonda commented on TS-3116:
---------------------------------------
This is a pretty cool utility and has helped in identifying memory leaks faster (e.g TS-3257). However, one observation from using it in production is that, if enabled for too long (longer than an hour or so), this (likely, coz, it uses std::map in critical path) can result in ATS consuming too much memory and becoming unresponsive.

> There is partial support for tracking ioBuffer usage with TRACK_BUFFER_USER and the configuration option proxy.config.res_track_memory. The underlying data structure to store the information is missing.
> This information will be reported when the user sends a SIGUSR1 signal to traffic_server or is part of the periodic memory logging reports.
