Origin Round Robin Selection
How robust is ATS origin selection in the presence of an origin hostname
with multiple A records?
In my testing I notice that ATS continues to use a 'dead origin' if the
origin doesnt respond.
ATS does not mark the 'dead' origin as down. These scenarios include(but
not limited to) a hard crashed server or a network issue where a TCP SYN
from ATS to the origin is never ACKd.
If the 'dead' origin issues a TCP RST, then ATS marks the origin as down,
and continues to use the live origin.
So it seems as if the round robin 'dead' origin code does not account for a
non-response from the faulty origin. The round robin origin code does
account for a failed origin, if the failed origin issues some type of
response(in this case TCP RST)
Thoughts?
Thanks!
