Steps to graduation ?

For once this is more a message for our mentors and champion.

I was wondering if we could talk about what are the requirements / next
steps for discussing graduation of Apache Unomi ?

I am thinking notably about updating the maturity model page, but I must
say I'm not experienced with how to fill it. Do we need to put
justification to all the points ?

I'm especially wondering about the community aspect. We do have more
external people now interested in the project, but I'm not sure if there
are hard requirements we need to fill ?

Thanks a lot for all the help you can provide.

Regards,
   Serge...

As mentioned earlier my focus has changed slightly since I got
involved with Unomi and I haven't found time to really get involved in
it, so to be realistic I'd prefer not joining the PMC.

If JB is willing to be on that PMC that's great!

Ok thanks Bertrand,

I know a few people that might be good to have as PMC members, apart from
you and JB of course :) I need to check with them if they are interested in
taking on such a role though.

Now of course if JB and you become PMCs we have nothing to do :)

cheers,
  Serge...

It's fine to vote people directly into both roles if the PPMC trusts them.

My view is that in a top-level Apache project committers can't do any
real harm, if they misbehave the PMC can just block their commit
access temporarily if needed, and in the extreme case they have no
formal decision power anyway - although their opinion is generally
taken very seriously, that's not a formal requirement.

A problematic PMC member, on the other can, can be harder to manage as
kicking off a misbehaving PMC member is harder, they need to have done
something really wrong for that to happen. I've seen only a handful of
such events in 18 years of Apache activities.

So I tend to be more cautious about electing PMC members and usually
like to see them operate for a while as committers first.

That's just my view, and I have no reason to think there are any
problems in the Unomi community - I just wanted to mention these
considerations in view of graduating.

Ok thank you Bertrand, I guess I means we need to recruit some more people
into the PPMC. Do these have to be committers first ?

It's important for the project to demonstrate that it's not dependent
on a single entity, corporation or organization. In principle this
means having PPMC members from at least 3 independent organizations.
