[jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-274) Add descriptions to README.filedata

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-274?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13198379#comment-13198379 ]

David Medinets commented on ACCUMULO-274:
-----------------------------------------

I know that I am a nudge but could someone put this example in context. Why would someone *want* to store file data into Accumulo instead of directly into HDFS? Or into a super file?

> README.filedata says the following:
> {noformat}
> This example is coupled with the dirlist example. See README.dirlist for instructions.
> {noformat}
> I don't see the filedata class describes or references in the README.dirlist file. The FileDataIngest class has a main method but I don't see information about how it would be used. I do see this:
> {noformat}
> * FileDataIngest - Takes a list of files and archives them into Accumulo keyed on the SHA1 hashes of the files.
> {noformat}
> How is filedata.FileDataIngest different from the dirlist.Ingest?
