There are currently efforts underway to set up the pom.xml for hbase - HBASE-2099 . 

The final version of pom.xml would be polished with the appropriate details in pom.xml (scm/ developerConnection etc.). 

Stack - 
   Would it be useful to have the groupId as -    org.apache.hadoop.hbase   and then publish artifacts as hbase-core / hbase-client  etc.  Let me know your thoughts on the same. 

Brian - 
   Let us know conventions needed as appropriate towards the same.
