[jira] [Updated] (AVRO-1400) Introduce annotation to specify
default values
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AVRO-1400?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel ]
Doug Cutting updated AVRO-1400:
-------------------------------
Attachment: AVRO-1400.patch
Here's a patch that implements an AvroDefault annotation. Note that default values must be specified as a json string, since Java does not permit arbitrary types to be specified as annotation values.
If this looks suitable & no one objects then I will commit this.

> It would be nice if there was an annotation in org.apache.avro.reflect to specify default values for schemata derived reflectively, allowing for proper schema evolution.
> I suggest the following:
> {code:java}
> @AvroDefault(1)
> int someNum;
> @Nullable
> @AvroDefault(null)
> AnotherRecord myRec;
> {code}
