LT Spellcheck and Hyphenation Dictionaries for AOO 4.1.1

Hi Andrea,

I remember asking you the last time to bundle the Lithuanian spellcheck
and hyphenation dictionaries
<http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/projectrelease/lithuanian-spellcheck-and-hyphenation-dictionaries-13>
with the Lithuanian package of AOO 4.1.0. Can I ask you to do the same
thing for the upcoming AOO 4.1.1
<https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=125130>? I presume you're
bundling the dictionaries manually? What's the most orderly way to
implement this addition each time a new release is planned?

Regards,

Aivaras

You are right. Fixed with
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/openoffice/ooo-site/trunk/content/download/full_vs_lp.html?r1=1606313&r2=1606312&pathrev=1606313

I get the "what" part but I think its wording is a little misleading. In
the paragraphs preceding the final note, a "full installation" or a
"base installation" is distinguishes from a "language pack." And in the
final note, it then states, "Since OpenOffice 3.4.1 dictionaries are no
longer included in the installation files." No qualifications added. It
would be much clearer if it said the way you're suggesting "...no longer
included in the language packs...".

OK, so no action needed.

I mean actually the name we use internally after downloading it. But it
doesn't harm if you use "dict-lt.oxt" directly for all releases (they go
to separate directories, so no risk to overwrite).

What it says is correct. We don't bundle dictionaries with Language
Packs. We bundle them with full versions only. In practice: if I install
the English version and the "lt" language pack, I don't have the "lt"
dictionary. If I install the "lt" version, the dictionary is bundled.
See https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=124473

It is the latest version, ergo it stays the way it is.

You mean simply renaming the file at
<http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/projectrelease/lithuanian-spellcheck-and-hyphenation-dictionaries-13>?
If so, I'll do that once 4.1.1 is out.

I'd also like to draw your attention to the notes on this page
<http://www.openoffice.org/download/full_vs_lp.html> wherein it is
stated (the link to the page is posted under the green download box as
"What is a language pack?"):

Perhaps the text should be re-worded in a more conditional manner?

It works like this: we have this file
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/openoffice/trunk/main/extensions.lst?view=markup
where you can find the download link for the precise version of the
dictionary we will bundle.

If this is still the latest version, nothing needs to be done: it will
be automatically included in the 4.1.1 version too.

If this is not the latest version of the dictionary, it needs to be updated.

How can you check the link?

For Lithuanian is says:

# Lithuanian dictionary.
[ language=lt ]
d8d4a3d5c6abfde1b4c81cc1ddd1afa0
http://sourceforge.net/projects/aoo-extensions/files/17703/0/openoffice-spellcheck-lt-1.3.oxt/download
"openoffice-spellcheck-lt-1.3.oxt"

So we are downloading the first release ("0") of extension 17703 (which
is the same you listed, http://extensions.openoffice.org/node/17703 ; in
your case you already know the extension, but in some case we need to
reconstruct it from here).

The "Download" link goes to
http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/download/17706 which is still not
what we need. But then, when you click, the URL changes to
http://sourceforge.net/projects/aoo-extensions/files/17703/0/openoffice-spellcheck-lt-1.3.oxt/download
and this is exactly the URL we need as second part of the line.

The first part of the line is the MD5 sum of the downloaded file.

The third part is an internal name that the extension will get as part
of the packaging process. In this case it would have been better to
standardize on "dict-lt.oxt" since that one should stay the same between
versions. But it can be fixed at the next update.

The simplest way is to open an issue when the call for dictionary comes
(later today) but ONLY if you need changes (new dictionaries; updated
dictionaries) with respect to version 4.1.0.

   Andrea.
