Changing the groupId for commons-io
Hi,
would anyone mind if I change the groupId of commons-io to org.apache.commons?
Thanks,
Jochen

Emacs 22 will support MacOS and CygWin. It is not yet decided, whether
these will be used to run Emacs or the other way round.

By all means, change the id for projects that haven't been released yet.
But changing it for existing projects? I'm unconvinced.

Maven is a tool which provides power and pain in equal measure. I'm
afraid my trust in the tool was lost a long while ago.

Don't you believe that the Maven 1 conventions were changed with a
good reason? It's absolutely plausible that the system of a root
directory with hundreds or thousands of groupId's doesn't scale well.
Apart from that, you are using a tool that draws its power from the
conventions to which you adhere. So, why not adhere to it?

I've failed to be convinced by any argument to change any groupId. It
really doesn't seem to cause any harm leaving it as is, so lets leave it
as is.

I've given up having any clue.
If I'm the RM for IO whatever and the changed groupId becomes a
blocker, then I'll roll it back. Otherwise sure why not.
