Lucene Upgrades in Solr

Hi,

I was wondering what the general consensus is on when Lucene upgrades
are made available in Solr? From the looks of [1] and [2], it seems
to be fairly ad hoc. I am considering doing some work in Lucene that
I would then like to make available in Solr. Is the best way to do
this to submit a patch that upgrades the Lucene library to whatever
build contains my Lucene changes or is there some other approach that
you guys take for upgrades?

Cheers,
Grant

Yes, I'm generally in favor of keeping flexible and agile.

I wouldn't bother making a JIRA patch... we all know how to upgrade
the lucene libs ;-)
Just fire a message to solr-dev and we can decide if that particular
version is safe enough given where we are in a particular Solr release
cycle.
