[jira] [Created] (NIFI-3337) Enhance help tooltips with context specific information and links to more detailed documentation

Rob Moran created NIFI-3337:
-------------------------------

Summary: Enhance help tooltips with context specific information and links to more detailed documentation
                 Key: NIFI-3337
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NIFI-3337
             Project: Apache NiFi
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Core UI
            Reporter: Rob Moran
            Priority: Minor

Currently, when configuring a processor for example, the help tooltips provide some explanation around the name of the configuration field name/label. Consider options to provide more specific details of the configuration setting and links to help documentation (and other potential resources) that directly relate to the setting.

This would be a more immediate way to inject context-sensitive help into NiFi leveraging current capability. However, users would still be required to interrupt workflow and seek help info. Future, long-term enhancements can focus on a more integrated approach to display help information, one that requires no interaction from a user and that potentially could be toggled on/off depending on the user's expertise.
