It would be good to find out where the heck these symbols are supposed to be on a stock installation of FreeBSD (by asking on some FreeBSD development mailing list).
It might be worthwhile to build gcc on the system and see if it can be used instead of the stock gcc FreeBSD comes with. If so, it would confirm that the default FreeBSD installation of gcc is broken or at least very likely unusable for what we need to use it for.
