S3Guard doesn't translate DDB exceptions, nor does it do much in the way of retry of network problems. Some queries do a bit. HADOOP-13786 marks up the code with its new @ attribute; this JIRA is "decide what to do and fix"

Be good to  have some stack traces of failures
