[BUG] getwd define and solaris 2.6betas (PR#89)

Solaris 2.6 apparently has a getwd() or getcwd() prototype that is messed
up by the define in conf.h  See PR#89 for one report, another was posted
to the list.  This should be fixed before 1.2, although probably not
before the next beta.
