I deleted the org.eclipse branch in my maven repo, and now it also
works for me. Thanks Marshall.

Yes, that's what it looks like. These Jars would be automatically
downloaded from the maven repo, if things were working correctly.
I did a new svn checkout of the uimaj trunk, and then went to my local
maven repo (in ..../.m2/repository), and erased the org.eclipse
directory - so maven would not find any org.eclipse jars that it might
need for compiling, locally. (Does this match your setup?). Then I
went to uimaj, and did mvn install - and it all worked, including the
eclipse plugins.
(The superPom thing has been fixed - so there's no need to build
/install it first).
Can you say what might be the difference between our 2 tests (other than
timezones and skills in typing - I'm sure yours are better ;-) ?

I'm getting the below, with a few more pages of errors after
that. I did a clean co of trunk from svn, built the superPom
as instructed, then did mvn clean install in uimaj. This is
the result. Looks to the uninitiated like some Eclipse jars
are missing.

Can you post more about what the failure is? I had Adam try building
yesterday after deleting some of the new stuff from his local repo - and
the last fixes worked for him.
Re: documenting setting Eclipse home for the assembly - right - will fix
that. Also - I have a todo to make this work via a command-line
parameter, and confirm it works also from an environment variable
setting of %ECLIPSE_HOME%. So we will have 3 ways to set this :-) .

I still can't build, building the Eclipse plugins is failing for
me. I seem to remember that we now need to set a path to a
Eclipse installation somewhere, right? Is this documented
anywhere? Couldn't find it on our website...

Resolution: Fixed
Traced the failure to maven not doing inheriting of groupId and not substituting ${variables} when finding parents. Changed the id of the eclipse-plugin-superPom to not depend on inheritance of the groupId nor the substituting of ${variables}. Also, added a <relativePath> to the <parent> element of the first submodule of the eclipse-plugin-superPom, so it can find the pom *before* it is "installed". This is needed because maven runs a part of its process, that of "scanning for projects", before it installs anything.
