XML namespace and validation problems

I actually have 2 different problems. When I run a SOAP test client I get
this exception:

SOAPException: faultCode=SOAP-ENV:Client; msg=A
'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/:Fault' element must contain a:
'faultcode' element.
        at org.apache.soap.rpc.Call.invoke(Call.java:244)
...

When I used the TCP Tunnel/Monitor tool to see what was going on. As you
can see from the response below there is a 'faultcode' element. However, it
isn't prefixed by the SOAP-ENV namespace so maybe this is why it is
failing. In addition, the 'faultstring' of the response from the rpcrouter
servlet is "Unable to resolve namespace URI for 'xsd'." Since both of
these problems have to do with XML parsing and validation maybe there is
something wrong with my set up. I'm running tomcat3.2.1 with Soap 2.1,
Xerces1.3, XML4j3.1.1. The full request and response is below. My classpath
starts like:

Using CLASSPATH: D:\XML4J-3_1_1\xml4j.jar;D:\xerces1.3\xerces.jar;D:
\jars\mail.jar;
D:\jars\activation.jar;D:\soap2.0\lib\soap.jar;D:\soap2.0;;D:
\tomcat3.2\class...

Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Paul,

Is this problem only with the SOAP 2.1 release, or is it still a problem with the nightly builds?

Terry,

I think many people had this problem. So did I last week. But as some good
people pointed out,
using xerces1.2.1 is the right thing. And you should have it as the first in
your CLASSPATH.

Good luck.
