I have encountered the same problem with my Tomcat installation, and my
environment and tools look very similar :

Release: 3.1
Synopsis:
       When running any jsp, compilation to java enters an endless loop,
       filling the filesystem.
Environment: (jvm, os, osrel, platform)
       1.2.2_06 Solaris, SunOS, 5.7, x86
