Tar file appears corrupt

           Summary: Tar file appears corrupt
           Product: Apache httpd-1.3
           Version: 1.3.27
          Platform: All
               URL: http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/apache_1.3.27.tar.gz
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Blocker
          Priority: Other
         Component: Other
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: owen@uiuc.edu

The tar file available for distribution for apache_1.3.27, although named
apache_1.3.27.tar.gz is not in gzip format (raw .tar format) and the md5sum does
not match. Has it been hacked?
