[Issue 128266] New: Under/Overbrace at the wrong position

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=128266

          Issue ID: 128266
        Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Under/Overbrace at the wrong position
           Product: Math
           Version: 4.1.7
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 10
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: P5 (lowest)
         Component: ui
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: frankmertins@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 86816
  --> https://bz.apache.org/ooo/attachment.cgi?id=86816&action=edit
Simple Example

I am not sure but i think this problem occured after upgrading from Windows 7
to Windows 10.
A simple underbrace command would be

{3+5} underbrace 8 +4=12

The bracket occurs somewhere in the upper left of the formula, totally wrong
positioned.

Thanks for helping

Well it is open source, why don't you have a look? ;-)

It seems, they based "their" font on the version 1.7 copyrighted by Sun
Microsystems which can be found everywhere to download (although I doubt that
it was ever free to use).

However, we need to find someone who has knowledge in font design.
Something changed with Window 8 upwards, that causes version 2.4.3 of
OpenSymbol to be rejected and substituted by Segoe UI(?).

But let's discuss that on dev@, please.

This is a problem with OpenSymbol font.
Replace it with the font proposed by martin_g:

Can you try to export it as PDF and see how it looks like?

This issue seems to be present since Windows 8.
My guess is that the wrong font (Segoe UI?) is used for screen rendering. But
in PDF export OpenSymbol is used...

Yes, this user provided font does solve the issue for me:
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/download/file.php?id=27307&sid=3ea47f201ae927f6777a2f2d75015551

We should really update it. I think other problems in Impress are related:

Hi Matthias,

you are right. The *.pdf export shows the formula as it should be.

Can i change the rendering font?
And if, do i change something in oo or in windows.

Do you mean the problem is solved in the 4.2.0. developer version or not. If it
is solved where can i download it.

Thanks for the quick response.

Frank

I have not found a way to change the font.

The issue is present in 4.2.0 (dev) as well.
But you can always test my (highly unofficial) builds for Windows:

Hi,
unfortunality also your builds does not solve the issue.

Libre Office has not this problem, maybe i will use this as long as it is not
solved in oo.

THX for your help!
