   - What did you do (The steps to reproduce)?
   
   I've noticed several users reporting compilation failures

        Cannot use '&Broker{}' (type *Broker) as the type runtime.Object Type does not implement 'runtime.Object' as some methods 
        are missing: DeepCopyObject() Object
   
   - What did you expect to see?
   
   README prompts the user for a solution
   
   `make generate`
   `make build`
   
   - What did you see instead?
