PSML and layout definition

Hi
 
Does anyone know how Jetspeed stores the layout definition?
 
I mean, when I edit a portlet, I can choose many layout styles, such as Jetspeed, Metal Skin etc, but the style to each portlet is not defined in the psml file... is it?
 
Also, in skins.css, there is the definitions for Metal, Jetspeed and Minty Blue styles. Where are the others (orange-red-3d-icons, grey...)?
 
Can anyone explain me how layout definition works?
