backend stability

I thought I'd share a statistic from NCSU that highlights the stability of the
current code. We're running code pretty close to what is in trunk here at
NCSU. Last week (11/2-11/8), we had 2 days with over 1000 reservations each
day, which is the highest for this semester so far. For the whole week, we
had 4392 reservations with only 31 failures, giving a 0.7 % failure rate. I
thought that spoke pretty well for how stable the pre-2.4 code is.
