Hive metastore separation proposal

There is a discussion on Hive dev list about spinning Hive Metastore out as an independent top-level project. I am very much in favor of this proposal, because Calcite needs metadata, and I feel that the Metastore could contain richer metadata if it were not solely controlled by the Hive project.
