Xerces and Object model integration
Hi,
I posted a message yesterday querying about the extent to
which the Xerces library implements conversion between XML documents and
objects. Probably I was not clear in my question.
I have a set of C++ STL based classes (some of them are
lists, hashmaps and sets). Is there a way of creating these objects
easily from the XML documents? I started to write a generalized
(probably templatized) framework for this; but I am still wondering if
all this has been done and is already available. As I see it, this is a
very common scenario for the usage of XML and is it the case that
everybody is implementing their own SAX based finite-state machine for
their needs. Wouldn't this make it non-extensible. When the DTD changes,
they would need to change or extend it again. Any help in this regard is
greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Sudheer

Hi,
I see the problem with SAX concerning automatic generation of source
files.
As you mentioned it's very DTD/Schema dependent. AFAIK the automatic
generation can be done
for DOM where you can do it in a relatively straightforward way, see Oracle
C++ Generator for XML.

Hi Sudheer,
You're right.
In my case I did implement serialization/de-serialization classes to persist
my data objects to/from xml but the implementation to do so was very
dependent on the DTD. I'm not aware of any C++ generic XML-IO framework but
I would be very interested if there were any.

Ward
