Thanks for your patch.

UGI class throws KerberosAuthException, Which does not match with any of the if conditions in NetUtils.wrapException,  and it will go to else and we throw IOException wrapping original Exception. I think in this case we should throw original exception which is KerberosAuthException.

 

You can modify the NetUtilsWrapException to be generic to handle such scenarios.
