Was this last bit intentional? It looks like AIX's export files were
dumped...

There is some code in the 1.3 Configure that divines the module
structure name from the source file. We could do the same thing to
generate the .exp files. Sound good?

Actually, it would be nice if the module struct names were consistent
with the name of the module.

Something I've already done in Makefile.OS2 to generate .def files for OS/2
dlls. It looks like:

%.def : %.c
  ...
  grep "^module .*=" $< | sed "s/module.* \(.*\) =.*/	\1/" >> $@

    Yes. :)

Some modules named mod_foo_bar.c contain a symbol named
bar_foo_module. One would have to clean it up first to make
    it work.

I really don't see how this works, but I'm +1 for it if it does.

+1 on doing this. Any objections?

Yes, it does not make much sense to hold them under CVS
control. They can be recreated with a simple loop like

    for i in <module names>; do echo ${i}_module>mod_$i.exp; done

Ah. You're right. I never noticed that those export files got added to
CVS. Icky.

Anyone know if it's possible to generate those during the make/build
process rather than checking them in and separately maintaining them?

Cheers,

Hm? Notice the - at the beginning of the line. They are under
CVS control, so I assumed they should not be ignored by CVS.
