Jackrabbit 1.x end of life coming up

Hi all,

If you've been following the dev@ list, you'll already know that we're
planning to announce the end of life of Jackrabbit 1.6, the last
actively maintained Jackrabbit 1.x release branch. The 2.x release
branches will remain maintained for the time being.

The current plan is to cut one more patch release for 1.6.x. That
release will still go to http://jackrabbit.apache.org/ for a few
months, after which the 1.x releases will only be available from the
release archive for historical purposes.

If you are still using Jackrabbit 1.x, I would strongly recommend that
you start planning for the upgrade to 2.x, preferably to the latest
2.2.x releases. If you have any questions or concerns about the
upgrade, this list is the perfect place for them.
