[jira] [Commented] (MAHOUT-1424) VFDT Very fast decision trees implementation

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MAHOUT-1424?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13910391#comment-13910391 ]

Ted Dunning commented on MAHOUT-1424:
-------------------------------------

Can you say more about this?

How will this scale?

Do you have an idea how accurate such tree models are?

What about bagging and boosting?

Do you have references?

What kind of input will you require? How does that relate to other classifiers already in Mahout?

> I would like to use VFDT (or equivalently called as hoeffding tree classifier) and I did not find the algorithm implemented in Mahout.
> Do you think I can contribute on that? If so, any hint or code pointers?
> If not, could someone come up with a reason why not to have this very important algorithm which is great in processing high speed data?
